Local and regional development

A target-oriented development of our rural areas, villages and urban districts requires an integrated approach. Social and cultural aspects have to be taken into consideration besides economic and ecological factors. The involvement of the local population in the development process is mandatory. Assisted by experts the ideas for development projects are formulated within civil assemblies, future workshops and working groups.

Village development concept (Dorfinnenentwicklungskonzept / DIEK)

The creation of a village interior development concept (DIEK) is intended to upgrade the village infrastructure and increase the quality of living and working. A prerequisite for funding of the concept and the investment measures it contains is that it be located within the "Rural Area" of NRW. In addition, the population of the villages (individual villages; not the entire municipality) must be below 10,000 inhabitants. Only municipalities can be applicants for a DIEK. The share subsidized by the state is 75% or a maximum of €20,000.

Integrated community development concepts (Integrierte kommunale Entwicklungskonzepte / IKEK)

While DIEK's concentrate on the local centers, the entire community area is taken into account when working on an IKEK. In this way, an overall municipal strategy can be developed.
