Our comprehensive offerings
We offer tailor-made solutions in landscape and open space planning. Rely on our expertise for sustainable projects.
environmental report
The preparation of comprehensive landscape ecological reports and studies is a focus of the work. Various instruments, some of which are legally binding, with different focal points are available to assess the effects of a project on people, nature and the environment. Together with any expert reports to be submitted, these serve to enable a comprehensive assessment of potential risks.
For example, our team prepares the environmental impact study (UVS) required as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the usually required landscape management accompanying plan. In addition, most plans today require an additional species protection review. If so-called FFH areas or bird protection areas of the European Union are affected, a so-called FFH compatibility study must also be presented. In the case of very specific projects, a feasibility study preceding the actual planning process also proves useful.
Our range of services includes expert and well-founded processing of these studies, which can also consist of controversial decision-making processes.
Urban land use planning
Land use planning is one of the most important planning tools used by municipalities when it comes to managing and developing urban development. As a preparatory land use plan, the land use plan represent the basic principles of land use for the entire municipal area. Rules in binding land use planning Development plans by determining the specific uses. Municipalities are responsible for drawing up construction plans.
In the area of land use planning, our office works for numerous municipalities on the Lower Rhine and in particular for Hamminkeln, Wesel and Rees. We support the entire planning process (in the XPlanning format) from the preparation of a first preliminary draft, through the early involvement of citizens and public interest agencies, the incorporation of changes and additions, the disclosure of the draft plans and the balancing of interests until the procedure becomes legally binding. Our services also include the preparation of environmental reports and species protection reports
Faunistic and floristic maps
The most important basis for planning and subsequent monitoring is professional Capture and mapping of the existing species. Comprehensive faunistic, floristic and geobotanical knowledge, as well as many years of experience regarding the occurrence and specific way of life of the species, flow into our work. To record very specific species groups, we involve renowned experts with whom we work closely together. The faunistic and floristic mappings are carried out using recognized methods and according to proven standards.
- Biotope type mapping
- Floristic and vegetationological mapping
- Faunistic surveys including special reports:
- birds (breeding bird, migratory and resting bird mapping, recording of tree hollows and nests)
- dragonflies (visual observation, transect inspection, targeted search for suitable habitat structures, fishing)
- amphibians (visual observation, acoustic recording, use of dummy sound if necessary, purging of waters, reproduction evidence by landing spawn/tadpoles)
- Reptiles (visual observation, transect inspection, design and control of artificial small hiding places, catch recovery method and individual recognition through photo documentation)
- Water structure quality maps
- Usage mappings
environmental monitoring
Ecological Monitoring or continuous monitoring is used to document long-term changes in the environment or to monitor the success of a measure in the sense of impact monitoring. Monitoring is carried out over a longer period of time, so that continuity of monitoring is of particular importance. In addition to comprehensive knowledge of species, this also requires particular knowledge of the overall ecological relationships, so that any changes in the species range can be interpreted accordingly.
The following services are covered by our team:
- Biodiversity monitoring
- Monitoring of population developments of individual species
- Monitoring the success and efficiency of nature and species protection measures
Ecological construction support
Through a ecological construction support or Environmental construction support It should be ensured that environmental and, in particular, nature protection concerns are respected throughout the construction process and that environmental damage is avoided as part of the implementation of a construction project. In this way, nature conservation aspects and laws can be taken into account in accordance with the permit and delays due to non-compliance can be prevented.
Our competent ecological construction support includes the following central tasks:
- Continuous technical advice to the project promoter from planning to completion of construction measures
- Faunistic and floristic surveys before and during construction, e.g. building checks regarding potential bat quarters
- Integration of nature conservation concerns into the complex processes of large construction sites
- Early identification of conflicts and development of practicable solutions
- Coordination with the relevant specialist authorities
- Collection of evidence and documentation of construction implementation in accordance with the approval
Drainage planning
Sustainable drainage takes into account not only technical but also ecological and climatic aspects. We create site-specific drainage concepts that meet both legal requirements and sustainability goals.
Our focus is on decentralized stormwater management, the integration of retention and infiltration areas, and coordination with authorities as part of development plans and building applications.
Typical services in drainage planning:
— Preparation of infiltration and retention concepts
— Design of systems according to DWA regulations
— Integration into land use planning
— Technical contributions for water permits
— Consideration of heavy rain and climate adaptation strategies
biodiversity strategy
Protecting and promoting biological diversity is increasingly becoming an integral part of sustainable project development — whether in residential construction, commercial use or infrastructure projects.
We develop practical biodiversity strategies at project and site level that meet both legal requirements and voluntary certification standards (e.g. DGNB, BREEAM).
This includes our faunistic and floristic surveys as well as planning concepts for upgrading habitats, minimizing interventions and long-term ecological development.
Our biodiversity strategy services include:
— Assessment of biodiversity and habitat structures
— Development of measures to promote biodiversity
— Integration into development plans and environmental reports
— Assistance with DGNB/BREEAM certifications
Our planning milestones
From the initial idea to approval and implementation — we will guide you through all phases of your project.
Analysis & initial consultation
We are examining the location, framework conditions and initial ecological risks. You will receive a clear assessment of what is possible — professionally and legally.
Mapping & Reports
Our team records local flora, fauna and habitats. On this basis, we prepare specialist contributions under species protection law, FFH compatibility studies or EIA tests.
Planning & government management
We develop approvable concepts and expert reports — and coordinate everything closely with the responsible authorities.
Implementation & monitoring
During the construction phase, we provide ecological construction support and monitor the success of compensatory measures as part of monitoring.
